July 30--The U.S. Consulate in Juarez will be closed today and until a security review is completed, officials said Thursday evening.

Officials did not disclose the reason for the security review but said the situation is under investigation and advised U.S. citizens to avoid the area around the consulate until it reopens. All appointments and services scheduled for today are canceled.

The consulate will call or e-mail applicants to reschedule appointments for non-immigrant visa applications. Applicants may reschedule non-immigrant visa appointments by calling 800-719-2525.

Immigrant visa applicants will reschedule interviews for a later date. U.S. citizens with appointments for passport or other services may make a new appointment through the consulate website.
