The death of former Memphis basketball player Lorenzen Wright has been ruled a homicide by gunshot wound, the (Memphis)

Commercial Appeal reported Thursday.



The newspaper quoted police as saying a 911 call had been placed early in the morning of July 19 from Wright's phone. His body was found Wednesday in a wooded area southeast of Memphis.

Wright played at Memphis University for two seasons in the 1990s and went on to a 13-year career with five teams in the NBA.
