DETROIT, July 29 (UPI) -- Lawyers refused to give any information on what former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick said in a deposition Thursday.
Kilpatrick, now being held in a federal prison in Michigan, spent several hours in a courthouse conference room answering questions put by a lawyer for the family of a slain exotic dancer, the Detroit Free Press reported. Tamara Greene's family says she performed at a party at the mayoral mansion in 2007 and that Kilpatrick and members of his administration stymied the investigation into her shooting.
James Thomas, Kilpatrick's lawyer, described Norman Yatooma, the Greene family lawyer, as "respectful" and his own client as "responsive." Yatooma said he could not talk about Kilpatrick's answers because the deposition has been sealed.
Kilpatrick is serving a state sentence for violation of probation and is awaiting trial on federal corruption charges. He was brought to the federal courthouse by marshals, wearing a suit with his hands cuffed.
