LOS ANGELES, July 29 (UPI) -- Chris Klein's publicist says the "American Pie" star has decided to stay in rehab longer than the 30 days for which he initially signed up.

Klein, 31, voluntarily entered Cirque Lodge in Utah following two driving under the influence arrests in California.

"Chris, along with his support team, has decided to extend his treatment. He is doing fantastic and is optimistic about his future. He thanks everyone for their continued support," his representative Jaime Primak told People.com.

The date of his expected release was not disclosed.
