NEW YORK, July 28 (UPI) -- Justin Timberlake and Elton John's respective representatives say there is no truth to rumors claiming they want to be judges on "American Idol."

Simon Cowell vacated his judge's chair at the end of the singing competition show's ninth season. Since then, rumors regarding his imminent replacement have been rampant on the Internet.

However, MTV News said reports this week claiming Timberlake and John are interested in Cowell's old job are completely untrue.

An unnamed source close to Timberlake dismissed the rumor as "just silly," while John's publicist said: "Elton's got commitments right up until next year. As we stand at the moment, Elton has no plans to do that show," MTV News reported.
