SANTA FE, N.M., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A stolen Van Gogh drawing
worth $200,000 was found for sale in a New Mexico consignment shop
for just $250, the FBI says.
The black and white sketch for the artist's painting "The
Night Cafe" was taken last May from a home in Santa Fe along with 76
other artworks, The (Santa Fe) New Mexican reports.
FBI Spokesman Stephan Marshall says a Santa Fe agent
assigned to the case received information on Wednesday that someone
had acquired a piece of art from a consignment shop in Raton that
was stolen from the Santa Fe home.
FBI agents and Santa Fe police detectives were at the shop
when it opened Thursday morning and recovered the Van Gogh drawing.
Sgt. Jason Wagner of the Santa Fe police says authorities do
not suspect the consignment shop of being involved in the theft.
