Grain futures close mostly higher     (Business News)

CHICAGO, April 13 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mostly higher Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade with equity markets relatively flat and the dollar index down 0.16 percent.

Corn was up 3 1/2 to up 4 1/4, soybeans were up 6 1/4 to up 8 3/4, wheat was up 8 to up 8 1/2 and oats were off 1 1/4 to off 2 1/4.

Corn prices rose with light showers and sun forecast for most of the Corn Belt. Wheat futures rose with the Plains states expecting light to moderate showers. Old crop soybeans gained on new crop futures Tuesday, although the gap narrowed by the close of trading.

Corn: May 3.52 1/2, up 4 1/4; Jly 3.63 1/4, up 3 3/4; Sep. 3.73 1/2, up 3 1/2; Dec 3.84 1/4, up 3 1/2.

Soybeans: May 9.68, up 8; Jly 9.75 1/2, up 7; Aug 9.71, up 8 3/4; Sep 9.50, up 6 1/4.

Wheat: May 4.76, up 8 1/4; Jly 4.88 3/4, up 8 1/4; Sep 5.06 1/4, up 8 1/2; Dec 5.34, up 8.

Oats: May 2.15 3/4, off 2 1/4; Jly 2.20 1/4, off 1 1/4; Sep 2.28 1/4, off 1 1/4; Dec 2.40 1/4, off 1 3/4.
